Magneto-optical scattering from a nano-corrugated ferromagnetic film

چکیده
Diffracted magneto optical Kerr effect (DMOKE) is a widely used technique for investigating magnetization distributions and reversal processes in periodic arrays of micron and submicron magnetic elements [1]. In most cases, the magnetic arrays are made of isolated magnetic entities where the magnetic interaction between them is limited to magnetic dipolar interactions. Little is known about what should be the effect on magnetic behavior of the arrays of connecting those entities. In this work we present an approach to analyse this effect. This is done by studying the magneto-optical properties of nanocorrugated ferrromagnetic surfaces. This corrugation is achived by different fabrication methods, such as ion beam etching or standard lift-off techniques, using thick sputtered films. The fabricated etching profile is a few nanometers and can be considered as a fluctuation of the bulk dielectric tensor [2,3].

متن کاملMagneto-optical light scattering from ferromagnetic surfaces
We have studied the optical and magneto-optical components of the light scattered by the surface of several Fe films with different morphologies. We present a method, based on the ratio between the optical and magneto-optical components of the scattered intensity, to discern the physical origin, either structural or magnetic corrugation, of the light scattered by these ferromagnetic surfaces. S...

Magneto-plasmonics is a designation generally associated with ferromagnetic-plasmonic materials because such optical responses from nonmagnetic materials alone are considered weak. Here, we show that there exists a switching transition between linear and nonlinear magneto-optical behaviors in noble-metal nanocolloids that is observable at ultralow illumination intensities and direct current mag...

Having precise hysterics loop of thin ferroelectric and ferromagnetic layers for optical switching and optical storages are important. A hysterieses loop can be achieved from a phenomenon call the magneto-optic effect. The magneto-optic effect is the rotation of a linear polarized electromagnetic wave propagated through a ferromagnetic medium. When light is transmitted through a layer of magnet...
متن کاملSurface Plasmon Resonance Sensor with Magneto-optical Thin Film
Thanks to resonant excitation of surface plasmons, SPR sensors including ferromagnetic thin films allow the enhancement of the magneto-optical response. MO-SPR structures with Au/Co/Au sandwiches are theoretically analyzed in transverse configuration. The influence of sandwich film thicknesses and layer order is discussed. The optimized geometry and corresponding feedback are specified.
